Psalms 130

A Song of Ascents.

1 Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, OLord.

2 Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.

3 If thou,Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?

4 But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.

5 I wait for theLord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.

6 My soullookethfor the Lord, more than watchmenlookfor the morning;yea, more thanwatchmen for the morning.

7 O Israel, hope in theLord; for with theLordthere is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.

8 And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

Psalms 131

A Song of Ascents; of David.

1 Lord, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty; neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too wonderful for me.

2 Surely I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with his mother, my soul is with me like a weaned child.

3 O Israel, hope in theLordfrom this time forth and for evermore.

Psalms 132

A Song of Ascents.

1 Lord, remember for David all his affliction;

2 How he sware unto theLord, and vowed unto the Mighty One of Jacob:

3 Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;

4 I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids;

5 Until I find out a place for theLord, a tabernacle for the Mighty One of Jacob.

6 Lo, we heard of it in Ephrathah: we found it in the field of the wood.

7 We will go into his tabernacles; we will worship at his footstool.

8 Arise, OLord, into thy resting place; thou, and the ark of thy strength.

9 Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.

10 For thy servant David’s sake turn not away the face of thine anointed.

11 TheLordhath sworn unto David in truth; he will not turn from it: of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.

12 If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children also shall sit upon thy throne for evermore.

13 For theLordhath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.

14 This is my resting place for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.

15 I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.

16 Her priests also will I clothe with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.

17 There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.

18 His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.

Psalms 133

A Song of Ascents; of David.

1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

2 It is like the precious oil upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard; that came down upon the skirt of his garments;

3 Like the dew of Hermon, that cometh down upon the mountains of Zion: for there theLordcommanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

Psalms 134

A Song of Ascents.

1 Behold, bless ye theLord, all ye servants of theLord, which by night stand in the house of theLord.

2 Lift up your hands to the sanctuary, and bless ye theLord.

3 TheLordbless thee out of Zion; even he that made heaven and earth.

Psalms 135

1 Praise ye theLord. Praise ye the name of theLord; praisehim, O ye servants of theLord:

2 Ye that stand in the house of theLord, in the courts of the house of our God.

3 Praise ye theLord; for theLordis good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant.

4 For theLordhath chosen Jacob unto himself,andIsrael for his peculiar treasure.

5 For I know that theLordis great, and that our Lord is above all gods.

6 Whatsoever theLordpleased, that hath he done, in heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps.

7 He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth forth the wind out of his treasuries.

8 Who smote the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and beast.

9 He sent signs and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants.

10 Who smote many nations, and slew mighty kings;

11 Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan:

12 And gave their land for an heritage, an heritage unto Israel his people.

13 Thy name, OLord,endurethfor ever; thy memorial, OLord, throughout all generations.

14 For theLordshall judge his people, and repent himself concerning his servants.

15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.

16 They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;

17 They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths.

18 They that make them shall be like unto them; yea, every one that trusteth in them.

19 O house of Israel, bless ye theLord: O house of Aaron, bless ye theLord:

20 O house of Levi, bless ye theLord: ye that fear theLord, bless ye theLord.

21 Blessed be theLordout of Zion, who dwelleth at Jerusalem. Praise ye theLord.

10 To him that smote Egypt in their firstborn: for his mercyendurethfor ever:

13 To him which divided the Red Sea in sunder: for his mercyendurethfor ever:

18 And slew famous kings: for his mercyendurethfor ever:

19 Sihon king of the Amorites: for his mercyendurethfor ever:

20 And Og king of Bashan: for his mercyendurethfor ever:

21 And gave their land for an heritage: for his mercyendurethfor ever:

22 Even an heritage unto Israel his servant: for his mercyendurethfor ever.

23 Who remembered us in our low estate: for his mercyendurethfor ever:

24 And hath delivered us from our adversaries: for his mercyendurethfor ever.

25 He giveth food to all flesh: for his mercyendurethfor ever.

26 O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercyendurethfor ever.

Psalms 137

1 By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.

2 Upon the willows in the midst thereof we hanged up our harps.

3 For there they that led us captive required of us songs, and they that wasted usrequired of usmirth,saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.

4 How shall we sing theLord’S song in a strange land?

5 If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forgether cunning.

6 Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I remember thee not; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy.

7 Remember, OLord, against the children of Edom the day of Jerusalem; who said, Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof.

8 O daughter of Babylon, that art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us.

9 Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the rock.

Psalms 138

A Psalm

of David.

1 I will give thee thanks with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praises unto thee.

2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and give thanks unto thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

3 In the day that I called thou answeredst me, thou didst encourage me with strength in my soul.

4 All the kings of the earth shall give thee thanks, OLord, for they have heard the words of thy mouth.

5 Yea, they shall sing of the ways of theLord; for great is the glory of theLord.

6 For though theLordbe high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the haughty he knoweth from afar.

7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me; thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

8 TheLordwill perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, OLord,endurethfor ever; forsake not the works of thine own hands.

Psalms 139

For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

1 Lord, thou hast searched me, and knownme.

2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.

3 Thou searchest out my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, OLord, thou knowest it altogether.

5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.

6 Suchknowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

7 Whither shall I from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in Sheol, behold, thou art there.

9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall overwhelm me, and the light about me shall be night;

12 Even the darkness hideth not from thee, but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both aliketo thee.

13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.

14 I will give thanks unto thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: wonderful are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

15 My frame was not hidden from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16 Thine eyes did see mine unperfect substance, and in thy book were allmy memberswritten, which day by day were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

19 Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloodthirsty men.

20 For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies takethy namein vain.

21 Do not I hate them, OLord, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?

22 I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me and know my thoughts:

24 And see if there be any way of wickedness in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
